All year 10 students are encouraged to select a VETDSS course.
1st Year courses will run from 8:30am until 12:45pm at the HDSC, other providers times may vary.
Year 11 VCE VM students will need to study a VETDSS course as part of the VCE VM program.
Students may also study VETDSS in VCE, there are two scored options that can contribute to your ATAR.
2nd Year courses will run from 1.15pm - 5pm at the HDSC.
Some courses have costs associated, please take this into consideration when selecting.
Courses are subsidised by the school and payment plans are available by early arrangement.

VETDSS courses are valuable in the provision of:
  • National accreditation, students who want part time / casual work whilst attending university have a qualification on CV.
  • Trainers from industry.
  • The experience of a different style of education.
  • May be undertaken alongside, or as part of your VCE, VCAL or a school-based apprenticeship.
  • Hands on industry experience.
VCE: A VETDSS  program may contribute up to 13 of the 16 units required for satisfactory completion of the VCE, and many of the programs have a scored assessment which can be counted within your ‘primary four’ studies for calculation of your ATAR. Others may provide for one ATAR increment; calculated as ten per cent of the average scaled scores of the primary four – a 10 per cent bonus to your ATAR score!
VCE VM: Contribution to VCE VM is determined by the number of units successfully completed. When you have been assessed as competent in units totalling 100 nominal hours, this will contribute one VCAL unit towards satisfactory completion of VCE VM. This program will satisfy learning outcomes for the Industry Specific Skills and Work Related Skills strands of VCE VM.
Every VETDSS program provides a certain amount of credit towards your VCE and VCE VM. We recommend you speak with Mr de Man about the combination of subject selections including any VET Delivered in Secondary Schools program and the credits it provides toward VCE or VCE VM
